[Press Release] The 6th national assembly service recently inaugurated Cocmmission has started a week’s induction/ retreat program aimed at serving as a forum AA for the new commission to model a roadmap for its activities in the next five years.
In his welcome speech to the program in possession of Ikot -ekpenne, Akwa Ibom State, executive president of the Commission, the chief Dr Salvar Enyiekere, revealed the political push of the 6th Commission, underlining that his commission would have given priority to the culture of excellence, public integrity, professional development, welfare of employees, responsibility and transparency, of his commission for actions.
He also highlighted the removal of staff stagnation and the digitization of service activities as ideals that the 6th would pursue.
The induction/withdrawal program, which was facilitated by the political and legal defense center (Plam) with the support of the foreign office, Commonwealth and Development (FCdo) of the United Kingdom, the Senate of the Senate, the Senator Godwill Obot Akpabio.
Senator Akpabio, represented by the president of the Senate Committee for the institution and the public service, Senator Cyril Fasuyi described the executive president and commissioners as “administrators of a sacred trust – a trust rested in you by the Nigerian people to support and strengthen the machinery of our legislative arm”.
According to him, the commission’s mandate was the tendon and spine on which the strength and stability of our national assembly depends.
He has unjust the new commission to strive to reach excellence in his activities and has promised the support of the leadership of the National Assembly to achieve success in his activities.
In his main speech, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. The elderly Udeme James Otong observed that the Commission of the National Assembly service has played a strategic role in the National Assembly as an incubator or machine room to provide an efficient and effective labor resource for the realization of the law “Your task is therefore critical and basically strategic. You are all managers of the engine that guides democratic governance …”. He told his audience.
He urged the new commission to strive to build a legacy that would have passed a test of the time.
In his role as president of the Senate Committee for the institution and the public service, Senator Cyril Fasuyi observed that the Commission had a double purpose of serving as an institutional memory of the legislature, the president of the procedural wisdom of the past and the motivation capable of evolving and the motivation of deviation.
In addition, the president of the Committee for issues relating to the Public Service, Hon Sani Bala has actively urged the Commission to actively participate in the repeal during the National Assembly Service Act in order to ensure that they were adequate legal provisions were sanctioned in the act to guide the reforms of the 6th commission intended to defend.
He said that while his committee would have strictly supervised the Commission to guarantee the provision of the service, he would also have contributed to providing him with all the needs of the Commission to make him work optimally.
The Secretary of the Commission, Lucky U. Ikharo stressed that the induction/retreat was organized to inform the new commissioners of the commission’s past activities and to chat forward.
The theme of the program is “leadership led by vision: to promote an ethical workforce, sustainable and ready for the future”.
