EPL: Everton shock Chelsea – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

Everton claimed an emphatic 3-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday, compounding Chelsea’s woes and strengthening their bid for a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea’s hopes of securing Champions League football have suffered another setback just days after their heavy aggregate defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Europe.

The London side have lost four consecutive matches, increasing the pressure on manager Liam Rosenior just two months into his tenure.

Portuguese striker Beto led the way for Everton with a brace, while Iliman Ndiaye sealed the victory with a powerful finish.

The result takes Everton up to seventh, just two points behind sixth-placed Chelsea, keeping both teams firmly in contention for a top-five finish.

Everton opened the scoring in the 33rd minute after a superb pass from James Garner released Beto, who beat the ball past Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez. Shortly afterwards, Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford produced a brilliant save to deny Enzo Fernández and keep his team ahead.

Chelsea’s problems worsened at the start of the second half when Sánchez let Beto’s powerful shot slip between his legs for Everton’s second goal.

The third goal came after Beto won an aerial duel and set up Ndiaye, who entered the penalty area before firing into the top corner.

The victory marks Everton’s most convincing performance yet at their new stadium and their first consecutive home win this season.

The Toffees now find themselves three points behind city rivals Liverpool ahead of their upcoming Merseyside derby next month.

Chelsea, meanwhile, face a series of difficult fixtures after the international break, including matches against Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, making their path to Champions League qualification increasingly uncertain.
