Ex-Gov Lamido predicts APC’s death before 2027 elections

The former Governor of the State of Jigawa and supporters of the Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, had predicted the rising divisions in the decision of all the progressive congress (APC) before the 2027 General Election.

He also expressed the belief that some of the peak leaders, including the National Party Chairperson, Abdullahi Ganduje, could immediately find a way back to PDP.

Lamido made a statement on Sunday when delivering the main speech at the PDP Congress held at the Aminu Kano triangle in Dutse, the state of the state.

With a shift in the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general election, Lamido discussed concerns about new defeats of PDP members, including senators, governors, and federal parliament members, to APC. Instead of seeing development as a loss, he described it as a temporary phase driven by political fear and pressure.

“I am sure that everyone who leaves PDP will return, including Ganduje,” Lamido told cheering crowds. “APC is a housing of people with opposite ideologies. This will soon break. This is just a matter of time.”

The former Foreign Minister painted a picture of internal tension that appeared in the APC, showing that the broad ideological spread of the party was not sustainable.

“I have said it before and I will say it again in six months, everyone who defected to the APC will return,” Lamido stressed. “And when they do it, PDP will rise again with new power to take strength in 2027.”

Recognizing the emotional victims that can be possessed by loyal party members, Lamido urges calm and perseverance. He rejected the idea that the future of PDP was in danger, instead of framesting a wave of new buyers as a product of fear, especially the fear of political intimidation and persecution.

“These people did not leave because PDP failed. They left because they felt threatened,” he said. “But time will indicate where the stability of the true political and ideology lies with us.”
