Aliyu Audu, a former senior special advisor to Ball President Ahmed Tinubu in public affairs, has stated his intention to actively oppose Tinubu’s re -election offer in 2027, stating that he left the government to campaign against the second term for the President.
Speaking at the Sunrise Television Daily channel on Monday, Audu revealed that his resignation was rooted in its principle and a better vision for Nigeria.
“I think this is a matter of principle and life for something bigger than yourself. This is about believing that Nigeria does not go beyond improvement. This is about knowing what loyalty is, what and to whom loyalty should be absolute,” he said.
“Being brave enough to make a decision even if it comes at personal costs. Even if the future is uncertain, I prefer to face an uncertain future rather than ensuring about today’s immoral today,” he added.
Audu criticized the Tinubu government for what he described as a shift from the ideals he had fought for. According to him, the government has turned towards the political revenge, betraying the unity promised during the campaign.
He specifically questioned the continuous alliance between the current President of Tinubu and the current Federal Capital Minister, Nyesom Wike, described it as a strategic but now counterproductive.

“It is not the news that there is a kind of relationship between the former Governor of the State Rivers, who is the current FCT minister, and the current president. In all honesty, there are many reasons that justify behind it because we are heading to the election and one of the greater things at that time is to ensure we put our best feet prioritize,” he said.
Audu praised Tinubu’s political record, describing it as unmatched in the history of Nigerian democracy.
“Obviously, from 1998 until now, there is no better leader than the current President politically and administratively,” he said.
He remembered the intense political struggle that led to Tinubu’s victory finally in 2023: “This is a difficult battle and all of us against us. It seems that our party is against us. It takes the confidence of some people who understand what we need and the type we need to replace the former president to look after us on the real path is Nigeria.
However, Audu accused Tinubu of leaving the mission.
But when it reached the stage where our prominent figure (the President) prioritized revenge for collective progress. We know what PDP is doing on the opposition between 2003 and 2007, specifically. We know what former President Olusegun Obasanjo did as president – how he would not take the path to the southwest, which began by him (Tinubu) at that time.
When asked whether Tinubu’s statement recently showed a step towards the dominance of one party to influence his resignation, Audu responded firmly. “It confirmed on the one hand and on the other hand, it strengthened my determination not to work for him in 2027. I could not be in a good conscience still in his government while planning his transfer. Because I would do it.”
He ended his remarks with an oath to support a broader leadership and moved by people. “For the sake of God, we will remove the President of the Ball Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. We will re -install a leader chosen by people, not worn. That will not be your emi – that will be the GBOGBO WA LO right (turn everyone),” he said.
