Former Nigeria striker Joseph Akpala has been appointed as caretaker manager of Belgian top side KV Kortrijk.
The former striker returned the club following the dismissal of gaffer Glen De Boeck over poor run of results.
The appointment was announced via the club’s social media account.
The former Super Eagles striker will be on the bench when Kortrijk face Westerloo this Friday and
“The players are professionals and they continue with their jobs ,” says Joseph Akpala during his chat with the press.
“They trained well on Thursday morning and believe me: nobody wants to lose. Everyone is motivated to win the next match.”
“When the match starts, everyone – on the field and on the bench – is only busy with their job.
“That will be no different against Westerlo . Then no one is concerned with the situation or the score, only with the result after ninety minutes.”
The former Club Brugge, Werder Bremen and KV Oostende, 37-year-old is back at the club for his third stint as caretaker manager.
The question is whether Joseph can once again pump so much commitment and aggressiveness into his team.
“The boys are ready,” he says.
“They all know how important this match is and We need our supporters more than ever. They can help make a difference in such a competition.” He concluded.
