In a thrilling clash at the Eket Township Stadium, Akwa United secured secured their biggest win of the NPFL season so far, triumphing 3-2 over Remo Stars on Sunday.

Goals started pouring in as early as the 15th minute, with Sikiru Alimi giving Remo Stars the lead.

 

It was however countered by an emphatic response from Akwa United, including goals from Dare Ojo, Uche Collins, and Rilwan Sadiq, with Aniekeme Okon pulling one back for Remo.

 

Meanwhile in Lagos, Sporting Lagos’ Jonathan Alukwu scored a dramatic stoppage-time goal against his former team Heartland, salvaging a point for his side.

 

Despite Chinedu Ike’s effort putting Heartland in the lead, another last-minute equalizer denied them their first win of the season.

 

 

Aba witnessed Enyimba’s captain, Somairi Alalibo, securing a crucial 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars with a header from a Uwana Asuquo throw-in in the 88th minute. Meanwhile, in Ibadan, Kareem Ayinde’s 53rd-minute goal made the difference for 3SC against Kano Pillars.

 

Abia Warriors’ defender, Ifeanyi Anaemena, experienced a whirlwind of emotions, scoring an own goal and then redeeming himself with a penalty to reduce the deficit after giving Rivers United a 2-0 lead.

Enugu Rangers faced a setback at home, settling for a goalless draw against Katsina United, while Sunshine Stars secured a 1-1 draw away at Bayelsa United.

 

With a 1-0 win over Plateau United on Saturday, Doma United now lead the NPFL table with 17 points and a superior goal difference.

 

Lobi Stars and 3SC closely trail, sharing the same number of points after an eventful ninth round of matches.
