Aba witnessed Enyimba’s captain, Somairi Alalibo, securing a crucial 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars with a header from a Uwana Asuquo throw-in in the 88th minute. Meanwhile, in Ibadan, Kareem Ayinde’s 53rd-minute goal made the difference for 3SC against Kano Pillars.
Abia Warriors’ defender, Ifeanyi Anaemena, experienced a whirlwind of emotions, scoring an own goal and then redeeming himself with a penalty to reduce the deficit after giving Rivers United a 2-0 lead.
Enugu Rangers faced a setback at home, settling for a goalless draw against Katsina United, while Sunshine Stars secured a 1-1 draw away at Bayelsa United.
With a 1-0 win over Plateau United on Saturday, Doma United now lead the NPFL table with 17 points and a superior goal difference.
Lobi Stars and 3SC closely trail, sharing the same number of points after an eventful ninth round of matches.
