Exclusive: Bundesliga winger receives first invitation from Super Eagles

The coach of the senior Nigerian national team, Eric Chelle, invited for the first time a relatively unknown winger who plays in the German Bundesliga for their upcoming friendly matches.

Nigeria will participate in a four-team tournament in Türkiye, featuring Iran, Jordan and Costa Rica. It was originally scheduled to take place in Jordan, but was postponed due to escalating violence in the Middle East.

Super Eagles will not be in the world cup, but will use the tournament to begin the second phase of the team’s rebuild under Chelle, who led the team to a third-place finish at the AFCON in January.

They will open their tournament campaign against Iran on March 27, while Jordan will face Costa Rica in the other match of the tournament.

According to the organizer, the final round of games will be played on March 31, with Nigeria against Jordan and Iran against Costa Rica.

Before the tournament, the coach already presented the list of players for the tournament and, as we exclusively reported, he included four new players in the team.

Among them is a German Bundesliga winger, who according to our source has been on the manager’s radar for some time, but refused to reveal the player’s identity.
