The children of Abesan Estate and their surroundings stole the center of attention in the 4th Wonderland Summer Sports Coaching, where they showed their skills and passion in athletics, football and basketball.
The event, which has become a platform for young talents to shine, once again demonstrated the importance of investing in base sports. From Sprint races to basketball shooting competitions, children excited viewers with their energy, determination and budding talent.
The competition saw exciting performances in several events. In the 200 meters of the children, Korede USman of Yellow House secured gold ahead of Fortune Edo by Green House and Daniel Ogunsanwo, also yellow.
The 200 meters of the girls were dominated by the defending champion Anjola Amusat de Blue House, who assured his third consecutive title, while Fiyin Igbasan and Adeyemo Tunmise of Yellow House settled for second and third.
The “Picking The Balking” contest was a family issue when Folarin Olalekan de Amarillo beat his brother Anthony of Green for Gold, with Abdulrahman Adeleye taking the bronze. Anthony, however, recovered to win gold in the children of 75 meters.
Other outstanding aspects included Goodluck Mustapha by Green House winning the basketball shooting contest, while in the football shooting event, Abdulrahman Adeleyo secured gold, ahead of Jesse Azeta and Anthony Olealekan.
Green House emerged general winners of the Pass Match, with the yellow and the blue ending the second and the third. All the children went home smiling with participation certificates, training bonds and special gifts courtesy of Mr. Fruts.
Speaking in the Grand Final of Abesan Estate, Lagos, national president of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, the Reverend Samuel Ikpea, emphasized the need for greater support for base sports in Nigeria.
He linked the decrease in the country’s fortunes in international competitions with the negligence of youth development, emphasizing that programs such as The Wonderland Summer Coaching provide children with the opportunity to show their skills while keeping them productive.
Ikpea, who supported the program through his organization, the dynamic talents, praised the children for their commitment, donated cash awards to the participants and officials, and urged young people to remain firm in their sports dreams.
Also speaking, the Diaconisa Sarah Eye, owner of the ICClaim schools, urged parents to encourage their children in sports, describing it as an essential tool to build a healthy and vibrant nation.
The event coordinator and CEO of Wonderland Events, Tayo Adeyemo, described the training clinic, which began four years ago, as a valuable platform for children to nourish their dreams. He appreciated customers: Rev. Samuel Ikpea by Green House, Ing. Musa Kida de Amarillo and Prince Adeyemi Akinyele of Azul, for their support.
