An explosion of bombs has shaken the Gwabro village in the area of ​​the local government of Tangaza in the state of Sokoto, killing six males and injuring three females.

The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon during the celebrations of Eid-El-Kabir (Sallah), when the victims, mostly young, were visiting relatives and paid tribute to Salah.

According to a witness, Malam hashimu, the victims stumble on a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) which was believed to have been planted by the Lakurawa terrorist group.

“They were walking from Gwaburo to the Zurmuku community when they saw the device.

“Probably not knowing what it was, they could have touched him, leading to the explosion,” said Hashimu.

The spokesperson for the command of the Sokoto State Police, ASP Ahmed Rufai, confirmed the accident, stating that six males were killed and three females reported serious injuries.

He said the wounded were running to the Tangaza General Hospital, where they were receiving care.

The victims were buried according to Islamic rites, according to Alhaji Garzali Raka, a special security councilor for the president of the local government of Tangaza.

The premises expressed concern for the growing notoriety of the Lakurawa group, which has terrified the communities, extorting and killing those who cannot pay the withdrawals.
