Eze Nets draws in Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

Ebere Eze scored the equaliser as Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

It looked like the path to victory was straightforward when Nicolas Jackson pounced on Cole Palmer’s pass midway through the first half to give the hosts the lead their football deserved.

Opportunities to add to his tally came and went, and so it went against the run of play when Eze delicately levelled the game for Palace early in the second period, expertly slotting the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to stun the home fans in west London.

Both teams had chances to score the third goal of the match later on, but Jackson and Daichi Kamada were unable to do so, but in the end they had to settle for one point each.

In the other game, Newcastle maintained their unbeaten start to the season with victory over Tottenham, with the visitors failing to score in front of goal.

Alexander Isak’s late goal punished a wasted performance from Tottenham Hotspur as Newcastle United emerged 2-1 winners in a thrilling encounter at St James’ Park.

The hosts took the lead against the game in the 37th minute when Harvey Barnes fired in from inside the box to give the Magpies a half-time lead.

After dominating much of the game, Spurs got their reward in the second half when substitute Brennan Johnson saw his shot deflected off Dan Burn.
