Ezekwesili lists three things the government must do to stop the #EndBadGovernance protests

Oby Ezekwesili

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has outlined three actions he believes the Federal Government should take to end the #EndBadGovernance nationwide protests which entered its sixth day on Tuesday.

In a post on his verified X account on Monday night, Ezekwesili said that instead of showing off by security officials by attacking protesters, and also President Bola Tinubu’s order for protesters to stop, the government should have taken another route in resolving the issue.

“Let me reiterate the possibility of a Way for @NigeriaGov @officialABAT to lead Nigeria and Nigerians out of the unfortunate quagmire the country is in,” he wrote.

β€œWhen Citizens tell their Leaders that they are hungry and angry because of #BadGovernanceInNigeria, the unwise thing to do is a concerted effort by @NigeriaGovernment to silence them, threaten them, taunt them, abuse them and generally act indifferent to their plight.

β€œSuch lack of empathy clearly strengthens the resolve of the demonstrators to continue their protests on the 5th day as we can see now.

β€œ@NigeriaGov @NGRPresident @officialABAT @nassnigeria @NGRSenate @HouseNGR and their State Governors and State Assemblies still have a small window of opportunity on Day 5 of this nationwide protest to urgently do the right thing for their Citizens who are asking them to #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria:

1. Go NOW to their Protest Sites across the Country and INVOLVE your Citizens. Hear them make their Demands known to you directly. Don’t lock yourself behind the High Gates of your publicly funded State and Government houses enjoying a life of luxury while your Citizens are out there screaming in pain from the weight of economic hardship caused by hunger and anger.

@NigeriaGov @NGRPresident @nassnigeria and their State Governors and State Assemblies, come out NOW and start connecting with your Citizens:

Listen. Listen. Listen.

Engaged. Engaged. Engaged.

Persuading with Factual Counterpoint

Present a Convincing Action Plan to Address their Short-Term Complaints.

2. For the medium to long term, @officialABAT and @nassnigeria must turn the current Crisis into a *Golden Moment of Opportunity* to Reset Nigeria. Every sensible Nigerian knows that Nigeria in its current state needs a RESET.

3. The growing unrest of our Citizens across the country is merely a symptom of a deeper structural problem. To address this, @officialABAT must lead political leaders and Citizens representatives across the country to present a well-thought-out plan for a credible National Dialogue focusing on the Most Effective Structure and Direction for Good Governance at all levels for productivity, competitiveness, prosperity, justice, equity, equality, order, peace, harmony, stability and resilience.

The choice is still yours @NigeriaGov.✍🏾✍🏾
