Falana accused the Nigerian government of having a double standard in handling the KWAM Airport 1 incident

Nigerian Senior Advocate (SAN), Femi Falana, has criticized the Federal Government for the handling of cases involving musician Fuji, Wasiuu Ayinde Marshal, known as Kwam 1, for the new behavior at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Falana said the government’s decision to receive musicians’ apologies and gave him forgiveness before the conclusion of the police investigation damaged the principles of the same treatment based on law.

“The Police Inspector General Office has begun an investigation of serious criminal charges of Kwam 1, including a claim that he opened a pumpkin and poured its contents on a pilot, a security officer, and several passengers,” Falana said. “Without allowing the police to conclude an investigation and might have filed a demand, the federal government quickly accepted his apology and gave him forgiveness.”

Lawyer Rights also condemned the government’s plan to involve Bintang Fuji as an ambassador for the airport security protocol, describing it as a step that sent a wrong message about accountability.

According to Falana, the government’s decision to withdraw accusations of other passengers, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, who was accused of doing behavior that could not be regulated on the IBOM aircraft, was directly associated with his rejection to sue KWAM 1.

“Because citizens have the same rights, obligations, and opportunities before the law, the federal government will further be accused of making passengers who are not compliant with discriminatory treatment on the grounds that Kwam 1 is ‘forgiven’ without any criminal trial,” he said.

Falana believes that with his actions, the government has “lost its moral rights” to sue other passengers accused of violating at Nigeria Airport.
