FG Congratulates Two Nigerians on International Appointments

 

The Federal Government has congratulated two Nigerians: Dr. Umar Oseni on their appointment as Nigeria’s first new Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Center and Dr. Akolisa Ufodike as Deputy Minister of Trade, Immigration and Multiculturalism in Alberta, Canada.

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, made this known in a statement by his assistant to the media.

A statement by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Commission’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, described the two Nigerians as excellent personalities who brought glory and fame to Nigeria.

Dabiri-Erewa said both appointments showcased the pedigree of Oseni and Ufodike as experts in their various fields with commitment to progress in national and continental developments.

He urged them not to rest on their oars but to continue to fly higher with the intention of motivating and guiding the younger generations who look up to them.

The NiDCOM boss, who said both appointments were well received, happily noted that they fit neatly into President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda in ensuring the upliftment of Nigerians within and outside the village.

Dabiri-Erewa prayed for the success of Oseni and Ufodike in their global assignments.

The 42-year-old Edo State-born Dr. Oseni, as an Assistant Professor of Law at the International Islamic University, mentored future talents and scholars who were Assistant and Associate Professors in various universities across the world.

In addition to being a Harvard certified negotiator and dispute resolution expert, he had been a consultant to numerous entities in the areas of Islamic finance law and regulation with a perfect combination of significant academic and industry experiences in Islamic finance law.

As one of the three most prolific authors in the field of Islamic finance and related fields globally, with over 110 publications in Islamic finance, law and related fields, he has published widely in prestigious journals and books on Islamic finance and law.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Oseni served as Executive Director for Legal and Compliance and subsequently as Acting Chief Executive Officer of the same global intergovernmental body.

He is recognized globally as a leading scholar of Islamic financial law and has numerous global awards to his credit.

Dr. Ufodike is an assistant professor in the School of Administration in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies at York University, specializing in auditing.

His research interests include public administration, governance, accountability, diversity and inclusion, actor networks and the public sector.
