FG declares public holiday holiday to Mark Eid-Ul-Mawlid

The Federal Government declared on Friday 5 September 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate the celebration of EID-UL-MAWLID, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace is on him).

Interior Minister, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, in a declaration signed by the permanent secretary in the ministry, dr. Magdalene Ajani, extended hot congratulations to Muslims Umah in Nigeria and all over the world on this occasion

Tunji-Ojo has unjected the faithful Muslims to reflect on the virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance and compassion as exemplified by the holy prophet Muhammad (Pbuh), underlining that these values ​​have remained essential in the construction of a united, prosperous and progressive nation.

He also invited the Nigerians, regardless of their religious beliefs, to use the opportunity to pray for the peace, security and stability of the country, while supporting the efforts of the federal government to promote national harmony and sustainable development.

“He said:” The celebration of Eid-Ul-Mawlid still offers us another opportunity to strengthen the bonds of the brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence and imbalance the prophet’s teachings on mutual respect and the altruistic service to humanity “.

The minister also urged citizens to remain respectful of the law, the security and support of government policies aimed at guaranteeing the collective well-being of all Nigerians, while they want all Muslims a joyful and peaceful celebration of EID-UL-MAWLID.
