The federal government through the Federal Ministry of water resources and toilet -Sanitari services in collaboration with the World Bank and other critical interested parties have convened a seminar of spreading gender -based violence and gender violence (GBV) under the transformation of the management of irrigation into Nigeria (finishing) with the theme “from tradition to transformation”.
The Minister of Water Resources and toilet -Sanitari services, Prof. Joseph Terumun Utsev, represented by the permanent secretary of Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, in his address Keynote stressed that the finishing project was designed to improve irrigation systems and promote the integrated management of water resources with the genre and social guarantees as the main component.
According to Utsev, the project has transformed women, young people and vulnerable groups to be marginalized to contribute vital in agriculture and governance of water.
He highlighted the achievement of the project, including the development of GBV action plans between the patterns for the mitigation of risk and support for survivors, leadership women in Water usurs association (Wuas) improving the inclusive empowerment of women through active roles in the management of irrigation.
Focus Hauwa Sadique Mohammed, deputy director of irrigation that delivers the welcome address on behalf of the permanent ministry of the Ministry of water resources and toilet -Sanitari services, Richard Pheelangwah, observed that the seminar is a key milestone to advance inclusiveness, equity and safety, in particular for women, girls and vulnerable groups, in the refining project.
The minister thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the World Bank and the project monitoring unit for their support for the guidance of the success of finishing.
He urged the replica of his gender and GBV initiative in other projects and stressed that the achievement of a fair equity company of GBV requires continuous commitment and collaboration.
