Decision to withdraw the criminal complaint against sm. Comfort Emmanson and to face related issues
- In the last 48 hours, I have been in consultation with the parties concerned in the aviation sector and those involved in the unfortunate accidents regarding the unruly behaviors of some people in our airports recently.
- Although deplorable, we think that the precious lessons have been learned from all sides to these accidents and the airport safety protocol, in particular, have been well highlighted for the traveling public. If not nothing, the episodes have undoubtedly contributed to increasing the awareness of the public on the appropriate conduct within the aviation space.
- As highlighted in my previous declarations on the last two accidents, clear errors have been committed by both offensive passengers and by the staff of the airlines involved by all the tests available for us and those available to the public. It is clear that all the actors involved cannot continue to highlight the injury or injustice without recognizing their own equal guilt.
- Therefore, after examining the whole accidents, including the appeals made by well -intentioned individuals and remorse shown by the actors, the following decisions were reached:
The case of the airline Ibom and the sm. Comfort Emmanson
(a) In the case of the unruly passenger, Mrs. Comfort Emmanson, on the Ibom airline on Sunday, on August 10, 2025, I conferred with Ibom Airlline to withdraw the complaint against her today. When the police took his statement in the presence of his lawyer, he showed a great remorse for his conduct.
(b) after the withdrawal of the complaint by the complaint, the CP of the airport command and the police prosecutor immediately take the remaining measures to facilitate his release from Kirikiri prisons within this week.
(c) I also conferred the leadership of the operators of the airlines of Nigeria (Aon) and I appealed to them to raise the flying prohibition for the imposed life, which they agreed. The details of the resolution will be made public by the Aon subsequently.
The case of Valuejet and Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (Kwam 1)
(d) In the case of Kwam 1, the NCAA must reduce the flight ban for a period of a month. Faan will also work with the music star in order to involve him as an ambassador for an adequate airport security protocol in the future.
(e) After publicly demonstrating penance, the NCAA must also withdraw its criminal complaints against Kwam 1 previously presented to the police.
(f) In the case of the Ogoyi Oluente captain and the Copilot, the first officer Ivan Oloba of Valuejet, the NCAA must restore their licenses after the same period of a prohibition as a month after having undergone a mandatory professional revaluation. The details will be announced by the NCAA.
Operators of airlines, aviation and other government agencies
- I directed all the aviation agencies relevant in collaboration with other complementary agencies outside the aviation to immediately start a collection next week to adequately redevelop and prepare our aeronautical security staff on how to manage wandering and disruptive passengers and how to decay potentially explosive situations. The withdrawal will be completely covered by the press with the opportunity to ask all the relevant questions.
- Airlines will also have their own session when the conduct and attitude of their staff towards the members of the public travel will be full.
Final comments
- These above decisions were made by the government and the operators of the airlines exclusively for compassionate reasons since the government never adds to base feelings, politically motivated opinions or deformed legal opinions when a clear invasion of our laws are involved.
- We are also sending a clear message that we take security very seriously in the aviation sector and we decided to trace a line after these clemefulness.
