Following the conclusion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches, world football’s governing body FIFA is expected to release the latest international team rankings.

Nigeria got into the action and beat Benin Republic 3-0 before drawing 0-0 with Rwanda. In the process, they picked up four points from a possible six, a result that is much better than the one they got after the World Cup qualifiers.

Three months ago, in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, they lost 1-2 to Benin Republic after drawing 0-0 at home with South Africa. The run of failure cost Finidi George his job as coach and also affected their qualification.

By the time the next rankings are published, they will have already dropped out of the top five in Africa, which will happen for the first time in seven years. Here’s how the teams will be ranked.

1. Morocco

2. Senegal

3. Egypt

4. CIV

5. Tunisia

6. Nigeria

7. Algeria

8. Cameroon

9. Mali

10. Democratic Republic of the Congo
