The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has already started the appeal process against the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, which rejected its petition against the Democratic Republic of Congo over the issue of eligibility of some players used by that country in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff match against Nigeria in Rabat, Morocco on 16 November 2025.
“We have received the FIFA Disciplinary Committee’s decision on our petition, but we are not satisfied with the decision that rejected our petition. I want to assure Nigerians that the NFF has immediately commenced the process of appealing the decision,” said NFF Secretary General, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.

The NFF had submitted a petition to world football’s governing body, FIFA, a few days after the match, alleging fraud in the issuing of passports qualifying a number of DR Congo players for the play-offs.
The match, played at the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, was the final of the African play-offs. DR Congo won on penalties after both teams were tied at 1-1 after regulation and extra time.
