Final team of the team released as the female handball team of Nigeria U-18 ready for the African championship in Algeria

Nigeria’s Women’s Chief Coach under 18, coach John Uzor has launched the final list of players who will represent the country in the 2025 African Women’s Youth Handball Championship holding in Oran, Algeria.

The team has been experiencing an exhaustive preparatory camp under the guardianship of coach John Uzor and his assistant coach Bukola Duru at the Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba, Lagos before the championship that serves as qualifiers for the intercontinental female phase of 2026 youth women, as well as the intercontinental female phase of the IHF Female Intercontinental of the IHF, as well as the intercontinental phase of women of the IHF.
The championship will remain from September 14 to 21, 2025.

Several of the players selected in the final list of the team are the nucleus of the team that won the zonal phase of the IHF female trophy for Africa zone 3 in Ivory Coast at the beginning of the year. They include the left back Balikiss Mohammed, Chetachi Ngoodurubie and Pivot, Phebe Oluwalade. Others include the Aisha Jamilu Arquera de Rima Queens, Rightback, Faizat Balogun, Audu Salamatu, Blessing Igbinidion and Esther Peter to mention.

The team has a great assignment task of its exploits in the African Youth Handal Bag Championship 2023 that was held in Monstir, Tunisia, in which Nigeria was third after defeating the 28-24 champion in the third place that helped them qualify for the world championship for the first time in their history. They also end second behind the host, Ivory Coast in the first tournament held in 2000.

Nigeria will play in Group A, which has Angola, Tunisia, Kenya, Benin Republic and Madagascar, while Group B would have hosts of Algeria, 5 times champion and defender champion Egypt, Guinea, Burkina Faso and Zambia.
