Five people were killed, 5 injured in a Lagos car accident

At least five people were killed and five others were injured in two roads along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, on Thursday,

General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (Lastma), Mr. Olarekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed the accident in a statement in Ikeja.

Bakare-Oki warns road users about the terrible impact of excessive speed and excessive traffic rules.

He said: “The first event occurred in the early morning at the Abijo bus stop, precisely under the pedestrian bridge into the EPE corridor.

“A Mitsubishi van pick-up, using AKD 733 JM registration number, traveling at very dangerous speeds, loses control and crashing into the stationary Craneburg construction company equipment, is parked legally.

“The colossal impact results in the death of four occupants (three men and one woman) whose bodies were found lifeless at the accident site.

“In the second accident, a sports utility vehicle (SUV), crashed into a dangote truck parked in the Frajend Axis Inward Bogije group, along the same Lekki-Epe barrier.

“The destroying collision results in the immediate death of the SUV driver.

“The other two passengers, who were seriously injured and trapped in the destroyed vehicle, carefully issued by Lastma personnel after a tiring and smooth rescue operation.

“After a successful recovery, the two survivors were immediately placed in detention officers from the Elemoro Police Division, who ensured their fast transportation to medical facilities for life rescue interventions.”
