Perfect rowing stars

It was a perfect weekend for Remo Stars. They won all their matches of the season and recorded their first ever away win against Kano Pillars.

A sweet 2-0 win over Kano Pillars allowed them to stay top of the table, having scored 5 goals and conceded none. Their perfection so far puts them as favourites to win the league, although it is still early days.

First Hattrick of the season

As part of the Matchday 3 drama, Yusuf Anas scored the first hat-trick of the season in the seven-goal thriller in Lafia as Nasarawa squandered a two-goal lead against Elkanemi in a thrilling 4-3 away win for the Maiduguri warriors.

Weekend away

It was a weekend made for visiting teams, with four teams taking the maximum three points away from home – Rivers United, Elkanemi Warriors, Remo Stars and Niger Tornadoes all claiming wins in a single weekend. It was certainly a weekend made for visiting teams.

There is no local victory

The home teams were unable to secure a home win as all seven teams lost or drew their matches, something unprecedented in the Nigeria Premier Football League in recent times.

Ikorodu City First point of the story

The new team, Ikorodu City FC, made their first appearance in the NPFL and lost their opening match, conceding three second-half goals away to Kano Pillar, but the Ikorodu-based side made another trip north last weekend against Kwara United and returned unscathed as Oga’s boys played out a goalless draw against Afonja Warriors.

A good and inspiring result ahead of their first home game against champions, Enugu Rangers at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan this Wednesday, where they will be looking for their historic first ever win in the NPFL.
