The twelfth lot of the compulsory training program (MTP) for the CEOs and the General Directors of the Parastali government and agencies began at the administrative college of Nigeria (Ascon), Topo Badagry.
Declaring open training, the head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack described the program as a vital component of the pillar (construction of the capacity and management of talents) of the federal strategy of the civil service and the implementation plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP-25).
He underlined the strategic role of Ascon as a key institution for the development of public sector skills.
He said that training provides critical onboarding for CEO and DG administrators, in particular those who go from different contexts, and aligns with the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who gives priority to responsibility, meritocracy and innovation in governance.
He said that the introduction of Master Class Executive-a follow-up program for the MTP-The purpose of equipping high officials of the strategic governance skills tailored to the panorama of the public service in evolution of Nigeria.
He said that the initiative would be implemented in collaboration with the office of the secretary to the government of the Federation to ensure alignment with national development priorities.
Reflecting on the milestones of the reform of its first 100 days in office, the head of the service highlighted the launch of Service Wise GPT, the compendium of Circular (1995 – dates) and new framework on tutoring, reward and recognition and management of the consequences.
By underlining the urgency of the delivery of the reforms, the service manager ordered Ascon to incorporate a dedicated session on FCSSIP-25 in all future MTPs to improve alignment with the delivery objectives of the National Service.
“This training is not ceremonial: it is a strategic platform to build leadership skills, clarity and trust,” he said, urging participants to support ethical standards and guide the transformation of the public service.
In her welcome observations, the general director of Ascon, Mrs. Cecilia Gayya, expressed appreciation for the presence of the HCSF, stressing that it was the first time that a service leader was formally declared the MTP opened by his institution in 2020.
The head of the service was accompanied by the permanent secretary, a career management office, Mrs. Fatima Sugra Mahmood; SSA to the President in the field of civil service, Mr. Alfred Abah; And the director of learning and development, Elisha Benjamin.
