Florida rapper Julio Foolio was shot and killed in Tampa on Sunday, just two days after celebrating his 26th birthday, according to his attorney.
Foolio, whose real name is Charles Jones, was staying at a Holiday Inn hotel in Tampa after being “kicked out” of an Airbnb where he was partying, when the rapper was “allegedly ambushed,” the lawyer said Lewis Fuso in a note.

Tampa police confirmed one man died in the shooting, with three other people injured and rushed to the hospital.
They were listed in stable condition.

Before his death, Jones had shared an Instagram story that showed him celebrating his 26th birthday with a pool party alongside friends and fans at an Airbnb.
The party, which had been advertised all over social media, allegedly became too rowdy, leading police to shut down the event and forcing Jones to leave, according to Fusco.
According to his lawyer, Foolio was “essentially ambushed.”
“Mr. Jones had been in Tampa celebrating his birthday over the weekend,” Fusco said.
“Law enforcement reports indicate he initially stayed at an Airbnb but was asked to leave due to exceeding occupancy limits.
“He subsequently moved to the Holiday Inn, where he was involved in an accident in the hotel parking lot and was reportedly ambushed.”
Police said Jones and the three other victims were in their cars in the parking lot when unidentified assailants opened fire.
Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the hotel and, as of Sunday afternoon, no suspects have been arrested.

Jones was a known member of Jacksonville’s KTA gang, which has been in a long-standing feud with rival gangs, First Coast News reports.
According to authorities, Jones’ cousin and three teenagers were killed in a gang-related shooting in 2018 during a birthday party for Jones’ brother.
The rapper had a previous attempt on his life in 2021, when he was shot while at his recording studio in Jacksonville, with the rapper later taunting his killers on Instagram.
