Flying Eagles Land in Cairo, ready to face Egypt in friendly before U20 AFCON

The U20 MNT of Nigeria, Flying Eagles, landed in Cairo, while preparing for the 17th edition of the Africa U20 Cup, which begins on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the NFF, the team arrived at El Cairo International Airport on Sunday night aboard a flight from Egypt Air.

The traveler contingent included 24 players and nine officials, led by chief coach Aliyu Zubairu.

Nigeria is expected to have its first training session on Monday night, as the final preparations for their first group B are started.

They will face the hosts Egypt in a friendly on Tuesday at 5 pm local time (Nigeria time at 4 pm) as part of their preparations for the tournament.

In their first game, the Flying Eagles will face Tunisia in their opening match, scheduled for Thursday, on June 30.

This year’s tournament will be presented in Egypt from April 27 to May 18, 2025.

Nigeria, who is the most successful team in the history of competition with seven titles, aims to extend his record in Egypt.

The chief coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has expressed his confidence in the potential of the squad, stating that the team is ready for the challenge ahead.
