Forces neutralize armed militias trying to disarm weapons in the highlands

Joint Task Force Troops, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) together with 3 Nigerian Army Divisions have neutralized armed militias who tried to disarm a soldier during the follow -up operation in the Barkin Ladi Regional Government in the State of the Highlands.

Opep media information officer, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, who confirmed this in a statement on Sunday, said the incident occurred after the arrest of the suspect on September 4, 2025, in Kaskra, Barkin Ladi LGA.

According to Major Zhakom, allegations of militias were found to have an AK-47 rifle and 11 rounds of ammunition 7.62mm (specifically) and during the interrogation, the suspect claimed to be involved in several criminal activities on the council and voluntarily directing troops to his cohort hiding place with the aim of recovering more weapons.

However, in the process of leading troops to the hiding place, the suspect made an effort to seize a soldier of a soldier in an effort to escape but the troops responded quickly by neutralizing it in the process.

Major Zhakom also reaffirmed the commitment of troops under OPEP to clean up the State of the highlands and the surrounding area of ​​criminal elements and would not surrender until the entire joint operation area was fully secured.
