Former Coordinator of the National Coordinator of the Nigerian Social Investment Program (NSIPA), Halima Shehu, has rejected a report on the embezzlement of the N44.8 billion at the agency.
He also denied claims about the recovery of N39.8 billion from him by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
In a letter signed by two of his lawyers, Seun Awolade and Ojonugwa Ogwuche, and seen by journalists on Tuesday, the former NSIPA coordinator described a report published by Business Day as a deliberate, evil, and slander.

He demanded an immediately revocation of reports and public apologies from media outlets within seven days.
The letter reads: “On January 7, 2024, your newspaper published a front page story titled: ‘EFCC recovered N39.8BN from the former NSIPA coordinator,’ written by One Chioma Onuh.
“The report was wrong, evil, and offensive accused that our clients embezzled N44.8 billion, owned by the Federal Nigerian government, and that EFCC recovered N39.8 billion from it.
“This publication is a serious and intentional falsehood. Our clients have never been investigated, charged, or found guilty of financial irregularities by EFCC or by other law enforcement authorities.”
