Former deputy whip of minority, Adekoya, urges the residents of Ogun to …

The former whisk of deputy minority of the House of Representatives, RT Hon Adesegun Abdelmajid Adekoya, urged all residents of the Ogun State to ensure that they participated in the exercise of recording the current voters.

He also appealed to the voters who have so far recorded to go and verify that their details were accurate and updated.

Speaking at a meeting of the community last weekend, Hon Adekoya underlined the critical role that each vote played in shaping the future of the nation.

With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) which started the registration of voters nationally on 25 August 2025, Adekoya reminded the people of their civil duty to participate in the electoral process.

“Your vote is not just a piece of paper; it is your voice, your right and your power. It is essential to exercise this right and make sure that the recording of the voters reflects your current state,” he said.

He underlined the importance of correcting any discrepancies in the cards of permanent voters, exhorting the participants to check their information and take the necessary actions to correct any problems that could hinder the vote in the next elections.

“It is our collective responsibility to safeguard our democracy. We must guarantee that every citizen has the opportunity to express their opinions through their votes,” added Adekoya, asking the leaders of the community to mobilize their members for this crucial task.

The philanthropist also encouraged young people in Nigeria to be actively involved in the political process.

“The future belongs to you. It is essential to engage in the democratic process, not only by voting but considering your leaders responsible,” he said, urging them to take the initiative to educate their peers on the importance of the recording of the voters.

While the electoral panorama in Nigeria continues to evolve, the invitation to the action of Adekoya resonates with the citizens who could feel disillusioned by the political system.

“We can only make the change if we participate in the process. Your vote is your power and it matters,” he concluded, leaving the audience inspired to act immediately.

Hon Adekoya, who had also won the prize for best commissioner in Nigeria several years ago, is the promoter of the Pam Foundation, an NGO involved in edifying women, young people and the development of the community.
