Former Military Ruler, Nguema, swear as President of Gabon

A former military ruler, Brice Oligui Nguema, was appointed as the new president of Gabon on Saturday.

Nguema, who led the coup that overthrowed the government of former President Ali Bongo in 2023, surveyed nearly 95 percent of the votes in the election last month.

The ceremony held in the country’s capital, Libreville, was attended by 20 African heads of state.
