Former NCP presidential candidate, Martin Onovo, opposition tutor on how to beat APC in 2027

The presidential candidate from the National National Party (NCP) who was dead in the 2015 general election, Head of Martin Onovo, said on Tuesday that only the emergence of strong candidates would secure victory for the coalition of opposition leaders in the 2027 election.

Onovo, Head of Policy Position, Movement for Basic Changes (MFC), stated this in a chat with journalists on Tuesday at Lagos.

He reacted to the new announcement about the opposition coalition to challenge the Congress of all Progressive (APC) in the next presidential election.

Onovo said: “The coalition of opposition leaders requires strong candidates; strong candidates to enlighten their opportunities in 2027. The coalition requires someone with a clear agenda and a clear vision.

“Opposition requires candidates with a strong background of integrity. Nothing is perfect, but you need a strong background of integrity.

“Opposition requires someone who is morally and mentally competent, and physically fit. Opposition does not require a former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or any parent if you want to win.

“Opposition does not require parents now. It’s time to use the energy of young people.

“They must present a strong, moral, mental and physical strong, strong candidate with a clear patriotic agenda to advance the country.”

He added that the coalition had many things that could benefit him in 2027 and urged members to work with the unity of the goal to achieve a convincing victory.

In the possibility of the ruling party in 2027, politicians said APC could remain in power if the challenges arising from the abolition of subsidies and other economic problems were handled by the current government.

He said the Tinubu Bola President still had the opportunity to overcome security challenges in the country to win in 2027, and remain in power if interested

Onovo, who noted that he was not part of the Mega coalition organizer, said he has always been part of the United Political Party (CUpp) coalition since 2019.

He urged the Nigerians to unite for the development of the country.
