The former Senator of Osun, Felix Kola Ogunwale, has officially separated from the Democratic Party (PDP), as confirmed by party leaders in Bangsal 01, Iragbiji, Boripe Regional Government in Osun state.
Developments were announced during the Special Ward Congress held on Monday, where party leadership described Ogunwale’s resignation as expected and not important, quoting its long absence from party activities.
The former member of the parliament, who served in the Senate from 2003 to 2007, had previously resigned from his position as Chairman of the Osun State Health Technology Regulatory Council, Isasa, triggered speculation of tense relations with Governor Ademola Adeleke.
At the congress, Chairman of PDP Ward 01 Taibat Oladimeji, through a statement read by Abayomi Adegoke, said the party had moved from the release of Ogunwale long before the formal left.
“The Special Bangsal Congress emphasized that the issuance of the Felix Kola Ogunwale (Jumokol) senator from the party (PDP) relieved us at the government and local government levels because he had not yet participated in party activities for about a year and we had filled the gap long before now,” he said.
“The congress was held in accordance with the spirit of the constitution of our big party, PDP, for examples of party leaders, environmental executives and members … To discuss the state of the party in our ward, following the resignation of the membership of former party leaders in our environment, Senator Felix Kola Ogunwale (Jumokol).”

“That all of us, environmental leaders, executives and party members, remain loyal, tough, not affected and firm to uphold our party, maintain the flag flying and giving victory to our party (PDP) in all future elections,” continued Oladimeji.
“Congress gave a voice of trust in our governor, His Majesty, Senator Jackson Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and praised the Governor for his sterling performance in all sectors.”
He praised various infrastructure and development projects of Adeleke in Boripe and so on, added that his appearance had strengthened party relations with people.
“The support of the leadership of the State Party for the Governor has ensured a smooth relationship between the ruling parties and the state government,” Oladimeji added.
In his resignation letter addressed to the Chairperson of Osun PDP Sunday Bisi and Governor Adeleke, and provided by Bangsal’s leadership, Ogunwale quoted personal reasons for his departure.
He wrote that he left PDP “for personal growth and sincere commitment for the welfare of his people.”
