Former Super Eagles midfielder denies interest in working with Super Eagles – Fake News

As the search for a new coach for the Nigerian senior team gathers pace, many coaches are rumored to be interested in the job. OwngoalNigeria.com reports.

The Super Eagles find themselves without a substantial coach after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced that they will appoint an expatriate coach to manage the team following their poor performance in the last round of World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria drew 1-1 with South Africa in Uyo before losing 1-2 to Benin Republic. The poor run of form saw them drop to fifth place in the six-team group, making qualification for the 2026 World Cup more difficult than before the match.

Finidi George, who was in charge of both games, resigned from his post citing the fact that the NFF did not inform him of its decision to replace him despite having held a productive meeting with him 48 hours before the announcement.

Managers have already begun lobbying to be the next coach, but one man who will not be in the mix for the job is Mutiu Adepoju, who was widely reported to be interested in the job.

In an exclusive chat with OwoSports, Adepoju, affectionately called the “Director”, emphatically stated that he never gave any interview or expressed his consent to anyone about his interest in the position.

“It’s not true. I never applied and I never told anyone I was interested,” Adepoju told OwoSports.
