‘Four years is not enough to overcome the problem of Nigeria,’ El-Rufai blames Obi, an Amaechi one time promise

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has warned the former presidential candidate of the Labor Party, Peter Obi, opposed to promise to serve only one time if elected as president of the country.

The former governor, who appeared on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, argued that four years were not enough to implement meaningful reforms in a nigerian serumite country.

He remembered that both Obi and the former Governor of Rivers, Rotimi Amaechi, had served as governor and had to understand the time needed to provide governance that had an impact.

“On the question of people who say that they will come out and do one term, I don’t think anyone believes them, and I don’t think it’s true,” El-Rufai said.

“You should not constitutionally surrender what belongs to you, and frankly, as someone who has been governor for eight years, Amaechi and Peter Obi are both governors.

“They know the time needed to make significant changes in government. Four years are not enough. I want to ask everyone to stop making a commitment ‘I will do four years’ because no one trusts you.”

El-Rufai, a key member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated that the presidential candidate must avoid unrealistic promises and vice versa focus on setting goals that can be achieved.
