In a series of successful and coordinated operations that covered Taraba and Kano countries, the Nigerian police had saved 21 kidnapped victims, recovered N4.8 million in ransoms, and seized various weapons and ammunition.
These operations also caused the arrest of six suspects related to kidnapping, armed robbery, and ownership of illegal firearms, strengthening the dedication of the police to curb violence crimes throughout the country.
According to a statement released on Monday by the Troop Community Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigerian Police remains “said in dismantling a criminal network that threatens the safety of the Nigerians.”
Significant operations were opened in the state of Taraba, where police operators attached to the state command, worked together with other security institutions, managed to save 20 victims who were kidnapped along the Takum/Mararaba road.
“The rescue mission, which was carried out on March 29, 2025, in the city of Muji, followed a fierce battle between the operators and the kidnappers. The criminals fled, leaving the victims and their vehicles. Two people who were rescued who suffered injuries who suffered currently received medical attention,” Adejobi detailed.

In a separate, crucial breakthrough, the cano state anti-kidnapping squad dismantled a gang responsible for the abduction of Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau on March 8, 2025. “Following an Extensive Investigation, Police Operations Arsrested Five Suspects – Meation of Lawal (alias Maikudi), Ado Usman, Sanusi Surajo, Habiba Shuibu, and Ummulkhairi Ibrahim – on 18 and 19 March,” said Adejobi. “During the operation, the authorities found a local -made rifle and N4.84 million, which was believed to be a ransom. The victim was saved without injury and reunited with his family.”
Further shows the police commitment to fight crime in Taraba, Special Tactical Forces (STS) captured Kafinta Moses because of armed robbery, kidnapping, and ownership of illegal firearms. “The AK49 rifle published with five rounds of life ammunition was found from him,” said Adejobi.
Adejobi praised the operators for their “courage and professionalism”, which stated, “This successful operation underlined the dedication and joint commitment of the Nigerian police and good citizens in Nigeria to protect the community and ensure security for all.”
He also stressed the importance of public cooperation, urged Nigerians to “continue to provide credible information to security institutions to support the war against crime” and “urge sustainable cooperation from the public in providing timely information to help in the war against crime.”
Police Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, echoed this sentiment, praised the operators involved and reiterated “Police Commitments that are not shaken to overcome criminal activities throughout the country.”
