This delay has left many teams struggling with logistical challenges.

These athletes, mostly under 15, have travelled great distances to compete, but several state governments have yet to provide essential funding for accommodation, transport and sports equipment.

As a result, many of these young talents face serious difficulties during what should be a crucial moment in their sporting development.

The National Youth Games, which will be held from 9 to 19 September, are a key platform for discovering new sporting talents and fostering national unity.

However, without timely financial support, these athletes are unable to perform at their best, which jeopardizes both their personal development and the reputation of their states.

In our next story, we will list all the state governors who have not released funds for their athletes, holding them accountable for neglecting their responsibilities.

These young men deserve adequate support because they represent not only their states but also the future of Nigerian sports.

As the Games continue, state governments must prioritise the development of youth sports and ensure athletes have the resources they need to compete. Delays in funding send a discouraging message to these young talents and urgent action is needed to prevent further setbacks.
