Galadima is skeptical of Tinubu’s cabinet reshuffle, calling it ‘just a job for kids’

President Bola Tinubu’s plan to reshuffle his cabinet has received skepticism from Buba Galadima, chairman of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP).

Galadima downplayed the move, stressing that Nigerians had more pressing concerns.

β€œThe cabinet reshuffle plan has nothing to do with me or any Nigerian,” Galadima said on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday evening. β€œWhat is important is to overcome difficult living conditions, and that responsibility lies with President Tinubu. No amount of overhaul will make a difference if it is just β€˜work for the kids’.”

This comes after the presidency confirmed an imminent cabinet reshuffle, and Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga said, β€œThe President has expressed his desire to reshuffle his cabinet and will do so.” However, Onanuga failed to provide a time limit.

Galadima believes that Tinubu must be held accountable for the performance of his ministers. “Anyone who calls himself president or governor is responsible for the performance of his cabinet,” he said.

NNPP supporters also accused Tinubu’s appointees of prioritizing personal gain over service delivery. β€œHe should be told that some of his appointees are more interested in their pockets than in service delivery.”

Galadima expressed his disappointment at Tinubu’s performance, saying, β€œI expected him to do better than this; and get to work.”

He urged the president to address the country’s foreign exchange crisis, which is adversely affecting the value of the naira.
