Galatasaray publishes a statement regarding Victor Osimhen’s injury

Galatasaray have confirmed that their striker Victor Osimhen suffered a strain and hemorrhage to his left upper back muscle during the week seven match against Kasımpaşa in the Trendyol Super League.

The injury occurred towards the end of the first half, causing Osimhen to request a substitution. He had put in a stellar performance, scoring two goals to give Galatasaray an early lead before the injury forced him off the field.

During the second half, despite an attempt to come back, Osimhen was eventually replaced by Dries Mertens. The club’s medical team has started his treatment and initial assessments suggest that he could be out for up to two weeks.

As seen on their official website, “Treatment has started for our football player Victor Osimhen, who felt pain in the left upper back muscle during the Kasımpaşa match in the seventh week of the Trendyol Super League and was detected a strain (strain and bleeding) in the left muscle group of his upper back during his checkups at our sponsoring hospital, Medicana.”

This means he could miss some critical upcoming matches, including Galatasaray’s UEFA Europa League match against FK Rīgas Futbola Skola and potentially Nigeria’s AFCON qualifier against Libya.

Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk has expressed concern about the injury, attributing it in part to the congested match schedule the team has been facing.

He emphasized the need for a balanced schedule to prevent these types of injuries and maintain the physical fitness of the players throughout the season.

The injury is a hard blow for Galatasaray, as Osimhen had just ended a three-game goalless drought with his brace.

Fans and management alike are hoping for a speedy recovery, eager to see him back in action for both club and country.
