Ganduje made the return of politics after resignation as chairman of the APC

Former Chairman of the National Congress of All Progressives (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, on Thursday held his first big political sightseeing since resigning from the top office of the party three months ago.

Ganduje joined the APC Kano stakeholder at a closed strategy meeting in Abuja, convening to strengthen the party structure ahead of the 2027 general election.

This session attracted several prominent figures, including Vice President of the Senate Jibrin Barau, Senator Kawu Sumila, members of the House of Representatives, and other senior party members.

In his remarks, Ganduje urged members to mobilize support for ongoing voter registration training. “Let’s see how we can encourage our people to go and register. So far, we do it very well, and we want to convince the canoe people stating that our members will register, so that during the election, we are out in large quantities and win,” he said.

He further reiterated loyalty to the President of Bola Tinubu, noting that APC in Kano had enjoyed the support of the President. “What the President did and what he had done for our nation, we merely behind him. We never asked for anything from him that he had not done for us, including learning institutions and projects,” added Ganduje.

Party leaders at the meeting promised to reclaim the new Kano State from the Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), which currently rule under Governor Abba Yusuf.

Ganduje resigned as the National Chair of the APC on June 27, quoting “an urgent and important personal problem.” In his resignation letter, he thanked President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve.

After the issuance, Deputy Chairperson of the National (North), Ali Dalori, briefly took over until the APC National Executive Committee chose Nentawe Yilwatda as Substantive National Chair on July 24.

A former Governor of Kano State, Ganduje led APC at the national level from August 2023 to June 2025. His term of office, although marked by internal disputes over zoning arrangements, maintains the influence of the party nationally.

In July 2025, he was appointed as Chairman of the Federal Nigerian Airport Authority (Faan).
