Ganduje stated that NNPP was ‘dead’, hinting at the return of Kwankwaso to APC

National Chairperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Tuesday stated that the new Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), showed that the national leader and former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, were ready to return to the APC.

Ganduje made a statement in Abuja when receiving the Tinubu support group on a polite visit to the APC National Secretariat. Speaking with a mixture of political finals and symbolic images, former Governor of Kano State said APC was ready to accept Kwankwaso “Return home.”

“NNPP is dead. And that will soon be buried, very, immediately,” said Ganduje sharply. “I hope where we will put the corpse, the coffin has been built. What is left now is to dig a grave. And already, they are digging a grave.”

The Chairperson of the APC said that the ruling party had experienced a wave of defeat, welcomed politicians and members of the leading parliament from all over the country, an indication, he believed, from the national attraction of APC that developed and the momentum of the opposition party was shaky.

“Even the so -called NNPP national leader, after losing everyone, now says he wants to return to us,” continued Ganduje. “We will welcome him, because he will return home.”

Ganduje’s comments came in the midst of a new speculation about political rearrangement ahead of the 2027 general elections. Opposition figures, including NNPP members and other parties, had hinted at the formation of a coalition to challenge the leadership of the Ball President Ahmed Tinubu.

However, Ganduje rejected the united opposition prospects, predicting that such efforts would fail under the burden of internal contradictions and personal ambitions.

“Some talk about forming a coalition, but I make sure you, when the time comes, the same person will return to APC. We have seen this film before,” he said confidently.

Although Kwankwaso has not openly confirmed the plan to rejoin APC, political analysts suggest that Ganduje’s statement may not be fully speculative. The two leaders, who used to be close allies during their term of office in Kano’s state, became alienated in the buildup of the 2019 elections but still became a central figure in the dynamics of the shift in northern political.
