Gateway games: Hon. Isiaka drives the Ogun State Scabble team, promises more support during the un programmed visit

The preparation of Ogun State Scrabble for the 22nd National Sports Festival received a moral impulse during the weekend as a commissioner for youth and sport development Hon. Wasiu Isiaka made an unexpected visit to the camp located on the outside of Abekuta, the capital on Saturday.

The 16 players, including the current African champion, Oluwatimilehin Doko, will represent the State at the National Sports Festival this month, were busy and locked in the word and number game when the commissioner appeared in his fog unexpectedly.

Upon standing, the players led by their Captain Cyril Umebiye, including the coaches, welcomed Hon Isiaka and appreciated their warm gesture, since they would encourage them to proud the state in the country’s Olympic Games.

In a brief interview with the media led by Tayo Ogenseye, the commissioner revealed his impressions and expectations of the Scrabble before the national event that will run from May 16 to 30 of this year.

“I am excited to be here! What I have seen so far is a strong and determined team and we are very ready to support and make sure to get the best result.” Declared.

“My expectation is very, very high because I know his qualification in Nigeria and I can’t wait less. I am aware of everyone here, I talked to its Adekoyejo President Adegbesan and we continue talking. It only comes from somewhere and, due to my expectations, I decided that I am driving my team.

He also gave some clues about what to expect in the games.

β€œIn general, we are using three caps. In the first place, we are working to provide the best facilities, then we ensure that visitors and all those who come to the state of Ogun are well served and then, as a host, we have to prepare our own team and make sure they work. Until now, everything is happening very well. The team is located where it is conducive to them instead of putting together in one place. What I have seen with the determination of athletes, I think we can do well. “

Scrabble, which is one of the 37 sporting events, will compete at the Ikenne Center for Medals in 12 events, namely: singles for men: Masters, Intermediate, Open; Double male: teachers, intermediate, open and male team: teachers, intermediate, open, while women will point to honors in female singles, female doubles and categories of women’s teams.
