General EFCC challenges on the forfeiture of N5 billion actions …

An ex -CEO of Nigerian Army Properties Limited (Napl), the major General Um Mohammed (RETD), asked the High Federal Court of Lagos to overturn the final decline of 246.30.544 actions worth about N5 billion, recently granted to the commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC).

The EFCC had secured the order on August 26, 2025, claiming that the actions – are based through Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Coniol Plc, Dangote Sugar Refinery PLC, Eternal Plc, Furina Mills Plc, Japaul Gold & Ventures Plc, Hide Allied Industries Plc, Oando Plc, University Press and Vitafoam Plc – Wasds conducted conducted by Hide Staferd by hide stable fraudulent sales of Napl owned during Mohammed’s mandate.

But Mohammed, in a waiting motion, argued that the investments were legitimately acquired long before taking the position of Napl in October 2015.

His sworn support declaration, made by Joseph Effiiong, said that the shares were purchased between September 2007 and September 2015, which precedes his posts to the company.

“The actions listed during times do not represent the proceeds of any illegal crime or activities,” said Effeiong, training the history of Mohammed’s publication as proof.

The retired general also criticized the procedure that led to the order of forfeiture, insisting on the fact that his sworn declaration to show the cause – was ignored on July 29 – was ignored. He said he had been denied the good hearing after the case, originally updated to 8 October, was reassured to a holiday judge without warning him or his advice.

Mohammed also argued that the EFCC did not respect the legal timing by not presenting a final decline within 60 days from the provisional order issued on May 7, 2025, as required by the law on crime (recovery and management), 2022.

He is now asking the Court to put aside the procedure in question n.: FHC/L/M: 404/2025 and cancel the order of forfeiture.

The Court has not yet planned an audition on his question.
