Ghana qualifies for the 2026 World Cup

Ghana’s Black Stars have booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Comoros in Kumasi.

Mohammed Kudus emerged as the winner of the match, scoring the decisive goal early in the second half.

After a tense and goalless first half, Ghana returned from the break with more urgency. Just three minutes into the second half, Thomas Partey played a smart pass to Kudus, who controlled it well before firing a powerful right-footed shot into the top corner.

Comoros put up a spirited fightback and worked hard to keep the score close, but they did not pose much of a threat to the Ghana defence.

The Black Stars managed the rest of the match effectively to ensure three vital points.

With this result, Ghana becomes the fifth African country to qualify for next year’s World Cup, joining Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
