Gold Cup 13th Edition obtains departure date

The 13th edition of the Pre-season Tournament of the Gold Cup will begin from October 16 to 25, 2025, at the last generation EBEDEI Stadium in APEL-SAGAMU, promising an exciting event for football fans.

This season is particularly remarkable, since it marks a transition for the tournament, with the absence of some powers of family clubs, including defense champions, fleeting stars of Ibadan, due to the previous start of the Nigerian professional football league calendar.

In an attempt to improve participation and increase the competitiveness of the tournament, the first class teams of the Nigeria National League (NNL) and they in the National League throughout the country (NLO) will make their appearances this year.

This decision reflects the organizers’ commitment to expand the scope of players and clubs involved in the competition.

The general coordinator of the Gold Cup, Tunde Shamsudeen, shared important updates on this year’s tournament while talking with the Gold Cup channel.

He pointed out: “The tournament was originally scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 25, 2025, but now has been adjusted to take place from Thursday, October 16 until Saturday, October 25, 2025.

However, fans can expect to see all Gold Cup Live games on their digital platforms, along with outstanding packages available on the YouTube channel of the tournament.

They can obtain notifications of objectives and results on their Android and iOS devices once they download the Sofascore application.

This approach aims to involve a broader audience and raise the profile of the tournament in the Nigeria football community.
