Gombe Flags off fertilizer distribution to increase food production

In a bold move to strengthen food safety and improve agricultural productivity, the state government of Gombe has started the sale and immediate distribution of fertilizers to farmers in all 114 State departments.

Speaking during the official launch of the year in Gombe, the commissioner for agriculture, breeding and cooperatives, Mr. Barnabas Malle announced that the governor Muhammadu Yahaya has given the directive for timely distribution and fair agricultural inputs to reach every part of the eleven areas of the local government of the State.

Mr. Malle said that fertilizers have to reach the hands of real farmers to the basic without any form of diversion.

“The governor clarified that there should be no delays, non -shortcuts. These fertilizers must go directly to those who until the ground,” he said.

He also stated that a total of 10,000 metric tons, equivalent to 200,000 bags, of high -grade fertilizers have been distributed and described the product as “one of the most refined quality fertilizers products at local level”, adding that its timely distribution would give farmers a strong start in the season of this year’s cutout.

To ensure unprecedented access, the commissioner said that the fertilizers would be transported to all local governments and up to the levels of electoral unity, in close compliance with the governor’s instructions.

“This distribution is an anchor of salvation for our farmers. It will not only improve returns, but will also stimulate the economic activity in our rural communities,” said Malle.

“We are excited that Prof. Aina, who was appointed by President Tinubu, showed a great commitment to work with the management of the Nuc and the staff to achieve the objectives of the renewed agenda of hope.

“He promised to focus his priority areas for the Nuc, in the study of the statutory mandate and the responsibilities of Nuc as a regulatory agency, analyzing the operations, performance and impact of the Nuc in public opinion and expectations.

“Prof. Aina also outlined its priorities to align Nuc with the renewed agenda of hope and the objectives for the transformation and performance of the most competitive and best classified Nigerian universities globally. Studying the prevailing financing policy of universities and exploring feasible options to support adequate financing of the appropriation.
“Revisiting the wisdom/legality of the use of Tetfund Money for the take -off of new universities or as electoral projects and improving the working conditions of the management and staff of the Nuc.

“We also noticed that Prof Aina underlined the importance of collaboration and teamwork to achieve the objectives of the Nuc. It undertook to work closely with the direction and staff of Nuc, as well as other interested parties, to raise Nigerian universities to global respectability.”
