The Governor of the State of Benue, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has announced the arrival of a special forces consisting of a joint tactical team and response team to overcome the insecurity and overcome the ongoing challenges in the state.
Alia, who made the disclosure in a statement signed by the head secretary, Teroo Kula in Makurdi on Sunday, said that special forces would complement the spread of existing security to vulnerable areas.
“I recognize and share with your pain and sadness caused by attacks on the community by criminal elements suspected of being armed shepherd,” the Governor said in the statement.
“The state government is consistently involved with federal security institutions, traditional rulers, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to strengthen security interventions and provide lasting solutions for this continuous attack.
“We convince residents that more tactical teams have begun to arrive at the benue from the Federal Government, and the spread of additional security is being regulated for vulnerable areas.

“The response troop team is also used and will be in Benue starting on Sunday; strategic community dialogue is ongoing to increase active intelligence sharing.
“The combined state operating unit is also strengthened, and the government will not succumb in its commitment to maintain the life and property of all residents,” he added.
Alia who condemned the attacks and massacre of innocent citizens in Yelwata by “alleged criminal shepherd, on Saturday, asking religious, traditional, and political leaders in all states to be sensitive and guide young people under their influence on meetings that violate laws or confrontations that might exceed control.
He also appealed to the public to take advantage of official communication channels to report suspicious activities and still receive information through credible sources.
