Gov Nwifuru raised the minimum wage for Ebonyi Civil Servants to the N90K

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has raised the minimum wage for civil servants in the state of the N70,000 to the N90,000.

This happened only 48 hours after the Governor of the IMO state, Hope Uzodinma, raised the minimum wage for workers in the state to the N104,000.

Commissioner of State for Information and Orientation, Head of Ikeuwa Omebe, revealed this to journalists at the end of the meeting of the State Executive Council on Thursday in Abakaliki.

He said the decision to increase the minimum wage was to improve workers’ welfare, adding that the implementation applies immediately and includes all categories of labor.

The commissioner said: “We want to decisively declare that this is not a political statement, because this government does not play with the welfare of workers.

“The government has compensated by the retirement and gratification of state retirees from its creation in 1996 until now.

“The verification process for retirees in local government areas has begun, and when completed, payments will be made.”

He also clarified that the government did not play politics with enormous financial obligations.

“The governor is a leader, capacity building, human, and infrastructure.

“The government is anchored to the Charter of the Bible people’s needs, who lead people according to their needs,” said Omebe.
