The Governor of the Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has ordered the temporary closure of the Gold Mining Site of Mararrabar Birnin Yauri in the Ngaski Regional Government in the state.
The governor gave an order during a visit that was not scheduled to the site in Ngaski LGA on Thursday.
This follows a misunderstanding report between the community and federal government agents.
Idris said: “I hereby direct security operators to take over mining sites to friendly solutions can be achieved between the Kebbi government and the President’s Gold Mining Initiative (Pagmi)
“The Kebbi state government wants to know everything about all mining activities in the state.
“The government does not benefit from mining, but our community that has land where solid minerals are worthy of getting better treatment; they must be involved as beneficiaries.
“I ordered the mining mining to compile a comprehensive list of all people, organizations and companies registered for gold and other mineral prospects in any part of the Kebbi, to ensure sanity.”

The governor remembers that there are serious unrest arising from illegal mining, where one new lost life in the area.
“There is no responsible government that will allow it to continue. This administration will restore peace and strengthen security in the state.
“We cannot allow unknown people from foreign countries, such as Mali, Tanzania, Chad, and Niger, to come and form security threats in our states,” he warned.
He also ordered the release of around 50 young men who were arrested and returned in the Correctional Center for the new violence for mining.
