Governor Oborevwori awards National Youth Games champions with cash prizes

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has regaled the stateโ€™s contingent at the 2023 National Youth Games with substantial cash prizes, in recognition of their exceptional performance.

The event, hosted by Delta State, saw the team triumphantly secure the top spot on the medal table, continuing their legacy of excellence since the inception of the Youth Games.

In line with the governmentโ€™s commitment to fostering athletic excellence, the governorโ€™s gesture serves as both a reward and an encouragement for future achievements. The announcement was made through a statement by the Director-General of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Festus Ohwojero, who confirmed that the beneficiaries have already started receiving their monetary rewards.

Mr. Ohwojero expressed his gratitude to Governor Oborevwori, stressing that this financial recognition will serve as a major motivator for the athletes as they prepare for the upcoming eighth edition of the National Youth Games. Scheduled for September 10-20, 2024, Delta State will host the next three editions of this prestigious youth sporting event.

This continued support and recognition from the state government underlines Deltaโ€™s unwavering commitment to nurturing and celebrating young athletic talent, ensuring that the state remains a powerhouse in the youth sports arena in Nigeria.
