The Frontline Group of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), an intra-party pressure group, on Saturday urged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to dissolve the party’s interim committee in Kogi State.
The group made the call in a statement jointly signed by its President, Alhaji Hussein Mohammed, Secretary, Mr. Moses Abidemi, and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Dan Okafor, in Abuja.
He commended the NWC for rejecting attempts to replace the results of the ward and local government congress with another congress conducted by the interim committee on Saturday.
The group expressed concern that the organizing committee insisted on replacing the July 27 ad hoc delegates conference in the state despite opposition from 18 of the 21 PDP local government chairmen in Kogi State.
The statement read: “The PDP Barisan hereby demands the immediate dissolution of the controversial Kogi PDP Interim Committee.
“We commend the NWC for its strong memo dated August 7 that successfully thwarted the group’s plan to override the authority of the PDP National Secretariat by petitioning INEC.
“This is an unforgivable insult and shows their true intentions.”
The group also commended the PDP local government chairman in Kogi for stopping the attempt by the interim committee to reverse the election of delegates in all the districts in the state.
