Guardiola made history when Man City beat Arsenal to win the EFL Cup

Pep Guardiola became the first manager to win the EFL Cup five times when he led Manchester City to another victory, beating Arsenal 2-0 in the 2026 final.

The match played at Wembley on Sunday evening saw Nico O’Reilly score twice in the 60th and 64th minutes to seal a big win for the Blues.

The Gunners, who are top of the Premier League and already in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, missed the chance to win their first major trophy since 2020.

Mikel Arteta is keeping goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga’s confidence in this season’s competition instead of David Raya’s first choice backfiring badly.

Kepa gave City their first goal when he turned in Rayan Cherki’s routine cross for O’Reilly to meet with a header.

Arteta and Arsenal will now have to wait in their bid to claim their first trophy since the FA Cup in 2020.
