On Monday, gunmen attacked the Umunze Police Station in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, resulting in the death of two officers.
The attackers used improvised explosives and firearms, burning down part of the station. The attack followed a similar incident two weeks earlier at the Divisional Police Station in Oba.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga of the Anambra State Police Command confirmed the attack and reported that five unexploded explosive devices were found at the scene.

He said joint security forces had been deployed to hunt down the perpetrators.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, who visited the scene, appealed for the public’s assistance in the ongoing investigation.
Responding, Member of Parliament, Princess Chinwe Nnabuife condemned the attack, expressed condolences, and pledged to work with federal agencies to address security challenges in the region. She appealed to the public to remain calm and support efforts to restore order.
